If you’re familiar with the amazing-ness that is Mackenzie-Childs, then you understand my obsession. If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of becoming acquainted, allow me to introduce you to my love.
My obsession began the summer before my senior year of college. I was at a friend’s house in Annapolis, Maryland, and her mom’s kitchen was professionally appointed (she was an interior decorator) with several pieces from Mackenzie-Childs’ Piccadilly and Taylor lines. I was in love. The exquisite detail and casual elegance of the pieces drew me right in. Not to mention those fun colors! After several weekends ogling over her sugar bowl and serving platters, I ignorantly asked her what brand the pieces were – and she looked at me like I had three eyeballs.
Her response was classic, and I will never forget it. “Sweetie, these are Mackenzie-Childs. They’re a bit outside your budget as a college kid.”
Yea, well, I’ll be the judge of that, but thanks. Turns out she was right; but fast-forward 10+ years and I’m finally starting to acquire a nice little collection of my own. A lot of the prices are still beyond my reach, but as a stubborn DIY-er, I refuse to let that stop me from having splashes of MC throughout my decorating wherever possible. You’ll notice I have a favorite print. #LookingAtYouCourtlyCheck The easiest way to incorporate little bits of the Courtly Check pattern here and there is to purchase the ribbon and go to town with it. I’ve used it in my Christmas Tree, on vases, trimming a pillow, as a ribbon border to my Write Plate, and as a cute bow on topiaries!
